I'm addicted to "swing cards"!!

Ever since the swing card I made at Christmas I find myself wanting to make my cards into "swing cards". I loved how this one turned out. I used Happy Heart Day for the main images and Polka Dot background stamp for the card base.

Valentine Ideas

Just a couple of things made up using the Happy Heart Day stamp set.

February Club Meeting

Hopefully you will be attending your club meeting this month where we will be making this card.

We will be using a new stamp set called Embrace Life. I used re-inker and crystal effects in an empty bottle to add some dimension to the flowers, unfortunately it doesn't show up here, but looks very nice in real life.

Project for February Club

With more and more of us depending on Gift Cards abd the new perfect gift, how about making one of these to give it in? They can be made for any different occasion. Gift and card all in one!

Inside is a little pocket to hold the GC.

We will be using the Build a Brads to add the little embellishment to the front of the GC.

Pink and Brown....

Here's a card I made using the Build a Brad again.
I love this background stamp.

Jumbling Tower Block $5.00

These are a cheaper version of Jenga blocks and I found them at Walmart. There are 48 peices in the container, you will need 17 for this project so plenty to use again or to share with someone.

So Many Sayings, free Hostess set.

I cut apart the stamp and mounted one to each side of the JT blocks. I then cut apart the stickers. I put both stickers on the same side with one upside down, this way when I looked in my box I could easily see both sayings with out having to turn over each block. I will have these available at club for you to get a better look. If you have already mounted your set no worries, simply put the block in the microwave for 10 seconds and carefully peel the stamp right off the block. You can also carefully peel the stickers off the blocks and adhere them to a piece of wax paper to make it easier to cut them apart. There is also a new set in the catalog that you can do this with it's called, Many Happy Returns.

Priceless!!!!!

A set of 34 individual sayings and accents!!!!

Embossed resist background.

This card was made using the Floral backround stamp and silver EP. The flower is from the "Pretties Kit".

.Celebrate Good Times uses the Plaid background with brown EP.

January Club

Using a technique called embossed resist we made this Valentine card. Using the Paisly background stamp with versmark ink I first stamped onto glossy cardstock and then embossed with black EP. I then sponged the background using sponge daubers and ink pads. It makes a ver stunning card.

This is the adorable treat holder we made in January at club. I got the great idea from my fellow demonstrator Missi. She's always coming up with something cute. You just pull up on the bow and the treat pops up!

Club this week!!

This week at club we will be making these cute little "Tic Tac" mints holders. They make great treats for school or to put on your workmates desk! These a very fun and easy to make! Hope you can join me.

Also at club this week we will be making a "swing card". Just a few careful cuts and a little scoring and you'll end up with the lovely card below!!! I wanted to show you that things don't always come easy to me either (LOL). Don't worry I've got the hang of it now and have yours all cut, scored and ready. However!!!! You will be making your own template to go home with so you will know how to make these! Please bring your paper cutters and scoring blades if you have them.
This is the "Swing Card" we will be making. Hopefully you can tell by the pictures that the center part rotates to reveal the other side. These are fun cards to make for all occasions.

As many of you know I like to alter things or take inexpensive or throw away item and create something special with them. This is my latest creation. I made it for my friend Missi who is getting married this coming weekend in Hawaii and then will be basking in the sun for the rest of the week on the beach. Lucky duck!!

This is what I started with....it's one of those chipboard childrens books. I took it apart as I wanted to use the heavy chipboard pages.

This is what I came up with.. I covered each pages first with whisper white card stock that I had stamped with flowers using white craft ink. Missi's wedding dress is white flowers on white so I used that for my inspiration. I stamped more flowers and embossed them with clear embossing powder, cut them out and used them through out the album. I used some metal pieces and some rub-on's also. I really enjoyed making this. Here are some of the inside pages.

This is another name frame I made for a friends new Grandson! It was very hard for me to do something boyish but was pleased with the way it turned out and I resisted from adding ribbons! I used the "Fontastic" background stamp with "Flannel" background stamp. (click on image for larger version)

Yes, I LOVE to make these name frames. This is one I made for a friends wedding.

I love using this color combination and think it looks very striking. I always make each one a little different. (click on image for larger version)

November Club

This past club night we did some glass etching! It was a lot of fun and I think everyone was amazed at how easy it was to do. I expect to be seeing some amazing creations from them! We also made this little tag to go on a nice bag of goodies to give to a neighbor or someone special. This was a technique I learned from Karen at the retreat I went too. We used tiny pieces of masking tap and applied it to a piece of card stock, then wiped it with a chocolate chip ink pad. Embossed it with clear embossing powder and it gives this wonderful faux leather look. (Click on image for larger version.)

Hello

So sorry it's been such a long time! As most of you know my sister Sally is now in Japan. I spent as much time with her as I could over the last couple of months. Sally will be gone for around 3 1/2 years but will no doubt be back to see us before then! I miss her dearly but after the last phone call from her complaining that she didn't get to see what we made in club as I hadn't updated my blog I thought I better get a move on! These are a couple of things I made her to take along to think of me. As most of you also know we always call each other "Sista" hence the name frame. The little book is made with coaster and has a poem written throughout. (Click on image for larger version.)

Wedding Present

Sorry it's been a while since I added anything to my blog, sometime "life happens". I made this name frame for my dear friend Alice's granddaughter Jennifer who got married last weekend. I was very please with how it turned out. I started with her wedding announcement which was a picture of them both and then the wedding information. I cropped the invite so I could add it to each side of their name. I stayed with neutral colors as I didn't know what their interior of their home was, but liked the look so much will now be making one for my niece and her husband who got married last December. I think this will make a great Christmas present for them and their announcement was similar so I'm sure it will turn out nice too. Thanks for looking!

Something new.

Peggy came up with the great idea for me to post all our helpful tips here. I've decided to call it Tuesday's Tips and will (with the help of you) post handy tips here each week. So email me with your tips and I'll post them each week, Thanks for the support.

Tuesday's Tips

I use those 'disposable' glad plastic containers for my Embossing Powder and glitter; I found the cheap ones don't stay closed as well. I use plastic spoons in them to sprinkle the powder onto my Card Stock. Before I put my powder into the container the first time I rub all over with my embossing buddy on the container and spoon to reduce static.

Use the brayer to evenly ink up background stamps.

To line up your lines when wheeling, start on the left side if you're right handed so you can see the last line you wheeled (vice versa for lefties). This will help tremendously. Also, if the design doesn't matter - wheel diagonally instead of straight across the page - if you're a little crooked, it's harder to notice.

If your new stamp doesn't stamp well (usually has a waxy kind of film on it), just give it a light brush across your jeans, and it will pick up the ink a lot better! This works great for those bolder and larger images if you do this first.

Those huge desk calendars the ones that basically cover the entire desk are awesome for stamping on top of. When there is too much ink on the paper just throw it away.

Check you newspaper office they sell rolls of newspaper that are *short* on paper for a great price.. When I say short on paper I mean, there is still so much there that it takes forever to use it all. Good to cover your stamping area with and great for kids to stamp on, you can even make your own gift-wrap.

Keep your bottle of Crystal Effect stored upside down, this prevents it from clogging the tip. I store mine in a cup on my desk, never had any trouble with it after that!

A small circle punch makes a cute button. Use a tiny hole punch to put "button holes" in it

3X3 Card Boulevard Swap

Well these little 3x3 cards are HOT HOT HOT right now, and we just had a swap at our last Card Boulevard team member meeting. These little cards pack a big wow and showcase some wonderful ideas!
Kim's attention to detail shows here with the punched accents! Whilst Missi's clean layout makes that ladybug (ladybird) pop! Love the little ones on the matching envie too!
